[Herald Economy = Reporter Yoo Hye-rim] GLN International, a subsidiary of Hana Bank, announced on the 17th that it will launch a 'QR withdrawal' service available at ATMs across Thailand to enhance convenience for overseas travelers.
With the introduction of this service, overseas travelers visiting Thailand can withdraw local currency by simply scanning a QR code without a physical card at approximately 9,000 Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) ATMs installed nationwide.
Since its establishment in July 2021, GLN has been providing various overseas payment services in major global regions, including QR payments, QR ATM withdrawals, overseas remittances, and tuition payment services for international students.
In particular, GLN's 'QR withdrawal' service applies a fee that is more than 50% cheaper than withdrawals made with conventional credit or debit cards (85 THB per transaction, about 3,600 won), allowing users to withdraw and use the cash they need at a more economical cost.
Lee Seok, CEO of GLN International, said, "GLN's QR payment service has already been commercialized in the Thai market," and added, "We expect this service launch to further enhance financial convenience."
To commemorate the launch of this service, GLN is also running a fee cashback promotion. If users withdraw 2,000 baht (THB) or more through the QR withdrawal service at local ATMs in Thailand, they will receive the equivalent of the 85 baht (THB) fee as GLN app money.
